Jet Lagged Recommendations

I’m feeling like a New Yorker again. It’s taken me a few days to get over my jet lag but I know I’m back because the other day I pushed an old lady out of my way to catch a connecting train and no one gave me any dirty looks. Home sweet home.

Traveling is the perfect opportunity to discover new art – making those 8 hour bus trips bearable. Here are some gems I found during my journey last month:

I finally read “Zeitoun” by my favorite author Dave Eggars. “Zeitoun” is an art of non-fiction chronicling one family’s traumatic experience living in New Orleans during the time of Hurricane Katrina. This book offers incredible insight and illuminates the dark flooded streets of New Orleans you probably never heard about. It’s a HIGHLY recommend read.

Because Mr. Eggars is a modern-day Superman – 100% of the authors proceeds go to The Zeitoun Foundation.

I caught “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” on the plane ride back to the states, though I’ve been meaning to catch it in the theaters this past year. Worth the wait? YES. Would I have paid $13 to see it? YES. So great. Anyone who knows old people and/or third world countries will especially appreciate this film.

It took me three seasons to discover “Modern Family” but thanks to Brussels Air and their “in-flight entertainment”  I’m hooked.

Last night Sigur Rós preformed an intensely beautiful show at the Prospect Park Bandshell. I was lucky to be there.

Their new album “Valtari” is art. Get it. I also recommend catching them live if you can find tickets.

Holla at me if you agree with my suggestions or want to point me in a similar direction with your findings.
